Abia lawmakers to deliberate on supplementary budget of over N18bn
Members of the Abia State House of Assembly has applauded the outstanding and sterling leadership qualities of the Speaker, Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji.
Orji who was also the ex-majority leader of the State Assembly who represented Umuahia Central State Constituency and was elected and inaugurated the Speaker of the 7th Abia House of Assembly on June 10, 2019.
The lawmakers who spoke through the House Committee Chairman on Information, Ifeanyi Uchenna and the member representing Ohafia North State Constituency, lauded the virtues of the head of the legislative arm of government in Abia State and attested that his characters were worthy of emulation.
This was disclosed in a release issued in Umuahia, the state capital and made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday.
The Abia lawmakers reaffirmed that the overwhelming achievements of Chinedum Orji as Speaker of the house speaks volumes and such deserves to be celebrated.
They attributed the cordial relationship between the executive and the legislative arms in the state to the inclusive leadership styles of the assembly Speaker and further noted that the cordial relationship between them and the number one lawmaker in Abia State, points to the fact that he is born to be a leader.
The lawmakers said, “We congratulate the Speaker of the State Assembly, Chinedum Orji on the recent occasion of the celebration of his 51st birthday, praying God to bless the Speaker with more long life and wisdom to do more exploits”.
Meanwhile, the Abia State House of Assembly Committee on Appropriation has presented a report for a law to make further supplementary provision of the sum of Eighteen Billion, Nine Hundred and Twenty-Five Million, Four Hundred and Three Thousand, Nine Hundred and Twenty Nine Naira,(N18,925,403,929) only, for the Servicing of Government of Abia State for the year ending 31st December 2021.
The Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation and former Speaker of the Assembly, Kennedy Njoku presented its report for the proposed supplementary provision during her plenary at the Assembly chamber.
However, the house adjourned its activities for the Christmas and New year celebration and will reconvene on Wednesday, 29th December 2021.
