Communities around Nigeria and the Niger republic border in Jigawa State have decried alleged heinous activities by the personnel of the Nigerian Customs Service NCS and other security agencies.

The communities’ outcry followed the recent gas explosion allegedly caused by gunshots from a Customs officer which left 10 persons injured and burnt many houses and vehicles.

Recently, the NCS was reported to have shot NURTW workers while trying to arrest foreign rice smugglers in Garki town.

Speaking to newsmen, the Chairman Babura community organization, Sani Ibrahim said the mayhem was caused by the unprofessional conduct of the Custom and other security agencies working within Nigeria’s borders.

”Ibrahim said we are living in horror and fear as always, Customs release unnecessary gunshot or chase suspected smugglers in the high speed and an unprofessional manner which sometimes lead to accidents and killing of innocent people”

“It is in the record, between 2015 to date over 20 people have lost their lives in such incidents”

The community urged President Muhammad Buhari and the CG of Customs to call the security agencies to order to end their unprofessional conduct and nonchalant attitude which they claimed id destroying innocent lives and properties.

All efforts to reach the NCS spokesman Kano/Jigawa office failed as he didn’t respond to calls before filling this report.
