Christian Eriksen’s contract with Inter Milan finally terminated

Inter Milan have finally terminated midfielder Christian Eriksen’s contract by mutual consent.

The Serie A champions also confirmed Eriksen’s departure from the club in an official statement on Friday.

This is coming six months after Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest in horrific scenes at Euro 2020.

The 29-year-old is prohibited from playing in Italy with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator due to local health regulations.

But the former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker could continue his career in another country where the rules are different.

“The club and the entire Nerazzurri family wish Christian all the very best for his future,” Inter’s statement read.

“Although Inter and Christian are now parting ways, the bond shall never be broken. The good times, the goals, the victories, those Scudetto celebrations with fans outside San Siro — all this will remain forever in Nerazzurri history.”

Eriksen hasn’t played since falling face-first onto the field during Denmark’s opening match at the Euro 2020 against Finland on June 12.

He joined Inter Milan from Tottenham in January 2020 and his contract was due to expire in 2024.

The Denmark international played 60 matches for Inter and scored eight goals in the process.
