Christmas: Times are hard, but we must support one another – Archbishop Musa, Fintiri
Spiritual leader of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN), Archbishop Musa Panti Filibus, has reached out with a message to Christians as they celebrate Christmas, saying that times are hard but people must support one another to survive.
“As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace, may peace dwell in our homes and our societies,” the archbishop said in a statement released on Friday.
The archbishop whose LCCN is the biggest indigenous church group predominant around states of the Northeast, said further, “Times are indeed hard and we all bear witness to the challenges that the world is currently faced with. But it is precisely because of this that we must look after the well-being of one another.
“There is no better time to show our love for our neighbours than now that times are hard, now that families are facing hunger, now that we are facing security threats, economic instability and diseases compounded by the continued mutation of the coronavirus.
“It is now that we must look after one another in love. It is now we must pray together to God for a better future. My call to you this Christmas is that you reach out to one another in love.”
In his own Christmas message, Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon Ahmadu Fintiri urged Nigerians to see the period of Christmas as an opportunity to rekindle the acts of love and kindness to one another, especially to the vulnerable.
“Do good this Christmas season by remembering the less privileged,” Fintiri said, according to the message released Friday evening by his Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.
Governor Fintiri noted that it is in line with the spirit of Christmas to do good to all and to live every day in service of others.
“When we commit our hearts and our hands to making the world around us a better place for all, we are fulfilling the promise that began in the humble Manger in Bethlehem. It is a time to render service to others as Jesus did,” the Governor added.
