EPL: Your decision on Lukaku extreme – Darren Bent to Tuchel
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker, Darren Bent has labelled Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel’s decision to drop Romelu Lukaku from the Blues’ squad against Liverpool on Sunday as ‘extreme’.
Tuchel didn’t include Lukaku in Chelsea’s match-day squad against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
The match eventually ended in a 2-2 draw, thanks to goals from Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic, Christian Pulisic; and Liverpool’s Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
Lukaku had given an interview during which he criticized Tuchel and expressed his frustration with his situation at the club.
The Belgium international also stated that he would like to return to Inter Milan in the near future.
Reacting to the development, Bent, in a tweet via his Twitter handle, said: “I understand Lukaku has done wrong and should be punished appropriately but leaving him out of the squad today for one of the biggest games of the season when you’re still trying to stay in the title race and his form in the last 2 games seems extreme. What’re people’s thoughts?”.
Meanwhile, the result against Liverpool means Chelsea still maintain the second position on the Premier League leader behind leaders Manchester City.
