How to transform local university to global standard — Uniosun VC, Prof Adebooye
The Vice-chancellor of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Professor Odunayo Adebooye has said that the transformation of a local university into a global one requires unalloyed contributions from all stakeholders.
According to him, the general atmosphere of peace, stakeholders playing their role in the contractual cycle, students’ readiness and steadfast provision of service by the University, through its staff and statutory organs, are tools to drive institutions to a global standard.
The Vice-Chancellor noted this during his address at the opening of the 11th convocation of the university held at the institution’s auditorium.
“The transformation of a local university to a global one requires unalloyed contributions from all stakeholders. First, there must be a general atmosphere of peace and an environment that is all-time conducive to teaching and learning.
“Second, every stakeholder must play their role in the contractual cycle: the students must show readiness for the services they have applied to get; and the University, through its staff and statutory organs must be steadfast in providing the services.
“It is gladdening that there has not been any breach in this cycle since our establishment as a University, and I have the consent of the Governing Council and Senate of this great University to assure our stakeholders that this trend will be sustained as a foundational tradition. And, this is part of the reason we are all gathered here for the celebration of today,” he sai
While advising the graduants, Prof Adebooye admonished them to make use of “entrepreneurial training you have received has put you at an advantage in your country, Nigeria, and indeed the world awaits and beckons to you with great hope of fulfillment and prosperity.
“Resolve to play a role in shaping our world. A better world will not come through mere wishing and complaining, but by collective actions of individuals who are driven by the passion of making the world a better place for all,” he said.
