LaLiga: Midfielder regrets joining Barcelona this summer over Xavi’s treatment
Former AC Milan midfielder, Franck Kessie is starting to feel ‘cheated’ by his lack of game time at Barcelona.
El Nacional reports that the 25-year-old, who joined Barcelona from AC Milan this summer, is becoming increasingly frustrated with manager Xavi Hernandez due to the situation.
A BarçaTV analyst, according to the report, speaking about their defeat to Bayern Munich on Tuesday, noted that the midfield needed some physical strength like Kessié instead of Gavi.
Xavi has been relying on the midfield combination of Busquets-Pedri-Gavi, “And whenever I hear that I watch Gavi’s last matches and I can tell that no one is stronger than him physically on the field,” the analyst said.
Kessie played 224 times for Milan across five seasons and helped them win their first Serie A title in a decade last season.
Before joining the Catalan giants, the Ivory Coast international was considered one of the hottest free agents of the summer.
However, he has so far been a backup option this summer, having only played 127 minutes over five matches in all competitions.
He came on for the final nine minutes of the 2-1 defeat of Bayern Munich and the report claims that the midfielder feels he may have made a mistake joining Barcelona
In Xavi’s pecking order Kessie has the likes of Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong and Sergio Busquets ahead of him.
