Nigeria worse off than it was in 2015 – NNPP
The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has alleged that the state of the nation in the last seven years is a far cry from what was obtainable in 2015 when President Muhammadu Buhari took over the country’s mantle of leadership.
The Katsina State Chairman of the party, Hon. Sani Liti, said this while addressing newsmen during a press conference in the state capital on Thursday.
While describing Nigeria as a failed state due to government’s inability to tackle the security challenges threatening the soul of the country, Liti urged the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency declare a state of emergency in the North-Central and North-western regions of the country, noting that the daily kidnappings, maiming, and killings in Katsina, the president’s home state, are enough to show that the country is already a failed state.
According to Liti, “It’s an illusion to believe that credible elections can hold in these states except the Federal Government takes measures to resolve the issue of insecurity before 2023. adding that the recommended state of emergency should be for a duration of six months.
“It is pertinent to point out that the current APC government had failed the country and it is also on record that the President and his party deceived Nigerians with their false promises that have not been fulfilled and not realisable before the end of their tenure.”
Liti however called on residents in the state to intensify prayers which he described as the greatest weapon available to them to avert the ugly trend while devising local means of protecting themselves through local intelligence gathering, ways to avoid bandits’ attack on their villages, and how to negotiate with bandits and several other measures.
