1. There is an outbreak of COVID-19 at Nigeria’s seat of power, with some presidential aides testing positive. Those affected include the President’s Aide-de-camp (ADC), Yusuf Dodo; Chief Security Officer (CSO), Aliyu Musa, and the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

2. Hundreds of Muslims yesterday, joined their Christians counterparts at a church service to celebrate Christmas and promote unity, peace and religious tolerance in Kaduna State. The General Overseer Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry in Kaduna, Pastor Yohanna Buru, received them into the church.

3. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, has ordered the release of the female soldier who got engaged to a corps member at the Yikpata Orientation Camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kwara State.

4. The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Mathew Hassan Kukah, has called for a more honest, open and robust strategy to end banditry and other security challenges in the country. In his Christmas sermon on Saturday, the Bishop accused the federal government of ignoring its responsibility of protecting its citizenry.

5. The Bishop of Anglican Communion, Kaduna Diocese, Timothy Yahaya has said that the refusal of Mr President to sign the Electoral bill is one of the indices that Nigeria has not started practicing democracy. He called on the Senators to save themselves from being called rubber stamps if they fail to veto President Muhammadu Buhari’s refusal.

6. Operatives of the Western Nigeria Security Network, WNSN, known as Amotekun Corps, have rescued nine kidnap victims including two toddlers in Osun State. The victims were rescued after they were abducted at the Ipetumodu axis of the state along the Ilesha-Akure highway while on their way from Lagos to Ado-Ekiti.

7. Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, SAN on Saturday says because “God is with us” Nigerians irrespective of different backgrounds will prosper, experience peace, and will be blessed in everything that they do. Osinbajo stated this in a chat with journalists shortly after the Christmas Service at the Aso Villa Chapel, Abuja.

8. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd. says Friday’s pipeline fire in Iyana-Odo/Baruwa axis of Lagos State will not disrupt the supply of petroleum products across the country. Malam Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director, NNPC Ltd., gave the assurance when he visited the scene of the incident.

9. Mr George Omo-Iduhon, Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Europe (NIDOE), Italy Chapter, said more than 1.5 million registered Nigerians urgently need the Nigerian passport. Omo-Iduhon stated this in an interview in Lagos on Saturday while reflecting on the activities of NIDOE in Europe.

10. The FG has said it may suspend the salaries of 1,173 of its workers by January over the failure to upgrade their records on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System. This information was contained in a circular.
