Some monarchs in Ondo State have sought urgent measures to tackle the spate of insecurity in the northern senatorial district of the state

The monarchs from Ikaram, GedeGede and Ajowa, in Akoko Northwest Local Government of the state, who cried out over the situation, appealed to the police to draft more personnel to the area in order to effectively curb kidnapping challenges facing the communities.

According to the monarchs, who were led by the Akala of Ikaram Akoko, Oba Andrew Momodu, action must be quickly taken in order to prevent the communities from being turned into kidnappers’ operational bases.

The three communities Gedegede, Ikaram and Ajowa, share a boundary with Kogi State, where the criminals were said to always flee to after their operation.

The monarchs made the appeal while meeting with the new Area Commander of the Ikare-Akoko Police Area Command, ACP Abiodun Agboola.

While informing the police chief about the incessant herders/farmers clashes in the communities, which they said have negatively affected the activities of the indigenous farmers in the area, the monarchs urged the police authority to always have a dialogue with vigilante and local hunters in order to make them more effective in the fight against crime in the area.

On his part, the Area Commander appealed for information sharing that will lead to knowing the hideouts of the criminals in the area.

Agboola also promised to summon a stakeholders meeting, where issues relating to effective security of the area would be thrashed.
