Reps ask FCTA to cover all open manholes in Abuja
The House of Representatives has asked the Federal Capital Territory Administration to cover all opened manholes in Abuja.
The FCTA is to provide covers with locks to prevent theft.
This resolution was a sequel to a motion moved by Musa Pali on Thursday.
In his motion, Pali said the “activities of scavengers and other unpatriotic individuals are responsible for the theft of manhole covers that are not secured or locked.”
He said, “many people have sustained permanent injuries as a result of falling into open manholes while many vehicle tyres have been damaged as a result of running over the manholes.”
The House, therefore, urged the Nigeria Police Force to provide surveillance security at all times against theft of manhole covers.
