Shun mpuru miri abuse – Group advises Imo youths
A group under the aegis of Mbaise Connect Global Initiative, MCGI, has called on youths from Aboh-Mbaise, Ahiazu-Mbaise and Ezinihitte-Mbaise local government areas in Imo State to desist from the consumption of methamphetamine, popularly known as ‘mkpuru mmiri’, as well as other social vices capable of truncating their future.
The group’s President-General, Hon. Charles Waya Ejerenwa, gave this charge while fielding questions from newsmen before the 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the organization held at Aboh Mbase council area of Imo State.
He urged the youths in the state never to ruin their future with the consumption and smoking of things that will jeopardize their ambition.
He said, “This is a call for every well-meaning Mbaise sons and daughters to join hands and be part of the campaign against drug abuse.”
On the 5th Anniversary Ceremony of the group, Ejerenwa opined that the organisation is compelled to look inwards for the best option towards alleviating impediments to the advancements of the Mbaise Nation.
The PG noted that their forefathers achieved greatness with joint efforts in providing most communal Needs that are now dilapidated.
He said since a profile of institutions and structures that made Mbaise nation great in the past demands attention that is not forthcoming from governments, the group has opted to complement the communities and People through renovation and Provision of Items needed for Societal growth like ICT centres among others.
In their respective speeches, the Vice President of the group, Engr Tony Okeahialam who doubles as 2021 AGM Planning Committee Chairman and the Secretary-General of MGCI, Chief Tony Nwaru, said the group really wished to seize the platform to appeal to the youth of Mbaise and Imo State to stay away from drugs.
They averred that the group choose this annual homecoming to also embark on sustainable Programmes that will impact positively on Communities and our youths to enable them to shun vices that are now threatening Community existence.
“We are seeing how we will use those in the entertainment industry to create the necessary awareness,” they opined.
