Sunday Igboho should’ve sought prayers, guidance from men of God before agitation – Pastor Giwa

A cleric, Pastor Adewale Giwa, has disclosed that the current predicament the Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, is facing was caused by his inability to approach men of God for prayers and guidance before embarking on the struggle for self-determination.

Pastor Giwa, who is the Senior Pastor of the Awaiting the Second Coming of Jesus Christ Ministry, Akure, Ondo State, stated this during a popular radio programme in the state monitored by our correspondent.

While disclosing that God revealed the reason for Igboho’s downfall to him following a series of prayers over his situation, he said Ighoho would not have made the mistake if he did the right thing.

According to Pastor Giwa, Igboho gave himself out over the unrestricted utterances which he said exposed him to his enemies.

Igboho who had been the face of the Yoruba nation agitation was arrested on July 19 by operatives of Brigade Criminelle (Criminal Brigade) in Cotonou, Benin Republic weeks after his house in Ibadan, Oyo State was attacked and raided by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS.

While describing Igboho as a true Yoruba son, the pastor said he will soon be free from incarceration.

“Sunday Igboho has the right to agitate for self-determination of the southwest. Igboho proved to everyone that he is a true son of Yoruba land. He made a bold move to stop killings in some parts of the southwest. He should be commended for his courageous and bold move.

“When I spoke to God about Sunday Igboho’s predicament it was revealed to me that there some things he should have done but he didn’t do.

“Before he embarked on such mission he ought to have approached men of God for prayers and spiritual guidance over his actions and utterances. The mistake that Igboho made was that he made lots of unnecessary utterances and with that, he exposed his weakness.

“But God will deliver him from the current situation that he is in. God sees his heart and God knows that he is fighting a just cause. We are praying for him,” he said.

While baring his mind on the Federal Government’s borrowing, Pastor Giwa said, “Borrowing is not a bad idea, but when you borrow for frivolities, then that becomes dangerous. Borrowing must be used to create an asset.

“Project borrowing, project finance fine. But borrowing to finance consumption is dangerous. It is pity that our President, Muhammadu Buhari does not have the citizens at heart.

“Since we got our independence in 1960, the electricity situation of the country has continued to be epileptic. If the borrowings had given Nigerians constant electricity, the people will be happy. But no one knows the essence of the borrowings.

“Even if the money they are borrowing is genuine, but years of lack of trust between the government and the governed will make the people not to believe them even if the government has good intention.”

Giwa added that “Before there can be a solution to all the crises in the country, each region must go their separate ways. Nigeria is too large for a single person to manage. Even the federal system of government we claimed to be practising is fraught with insincerity.

“Greediness on the part of many clerics has made them turn blind eye to the rots in the society. Such men of God should recheck their callings.”
