UCL: ‘We won’t be friends’ – Real Madrid star tells Timo Werner
Real Madrid defender, Antonio Rudiger, has told RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner that he will set his friendship with him aside during both teams’ upcoming UEFA Champions League clash.
Real Madrid will host Leipzig in the Champions League group stage tie on Wednesday night in Spain.
Rudiger and Werner were former club teammates during their time at Chelsea.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Rudiger declared that it would be his responsibility to stop Werner from scoring against Real Madrid.
“We have known each other for a long time because we spent time together in the same team,” Rudiger told reporters (via MARCA).
“I love seeing him on the pitch. This time we won’t be friends. One of the goals will be to defend him.”
