Yuletide: Anambra, Delta in partnership to ensure free flow of traffic at Niger Bridge
Anambra and Delta State government have entered a partnership to ensure the free flow of traffic at the Niger bridgehead this yuletide.
The secretary to the government of Anambra State (SSG), Prof Solo Chukwulobelu in an interview said the Governor Willie Obiano and his Delta State counterpart, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa are working together this festive season to ensure the free flow of traffic in and around the Niger River Bridge-Head, Onitsha – Asaba.
Chukwulobelu who spoke to journalists on Friday, while representing Governor Obiano informed that since 2015, the two states have been collaborating during festive seasons on traffic control and tackling insecurity.
He warned that any motorist who refuses to obey the traffic codes will be dwelt with.
On his part, the representative of Delta State Government and Chief Policy Advisor to Governor Okowa, Prof. Sylvester Monye said the two states have provided tow trucks that will assist motorists whose trucks break down on the road and allow for easy flow of traffic.
Anambra State Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Afam Mbanefo, Commissioners of Police, FRSC Sector Commanders and others were some of the dignitaries present during the exercise.
DAILY POST recalls that there is usually heavy traffic congestion at the Niger bridgehead, while some passengers have had to pass the night on the bridge while trying to cross.
